Reducing Waste in Production

One major area in which MAS practitioners can assist companies is in the reduction in waste in production.   Waste need not necessarily be the tangible by product of manufacturing production lines but also includes time, resources and manpower.    The ‘Lean’ manufacturing processes highlight areas where waste is evident and can be reduced or even eliminated.  

MAS practitioners can help manufacturers identify lost and wasted time within the manufacturing process and calculate the process balance which in turn allows an increase in productivity.   Companies then have the ability to understand how activities performed down and up stream can impact on overall delivery performance.
