Improving Resource Efficiency

Resource efficiency is collaboration and innovation to save waste, materials and energy; this is a strong working ethic of the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS). The MAS practitioners are able to work with manufacturers produce a process review, develop product standards and line balancing to improve resource efficiency. They can help companies identify and realise major improvements by integrating existing and new practices while maximising the company’s potential.
The Manufacturing Advisory Service is able to assist companies through practical workshops and involvement with other organizations such as the Carbon Trust. Assistance can be provided to help companies review many aspects of their processes and MAS practitioners can work with them to develop a plan for the future which will provide them with focus, confidence and motivation. They can also work with manufacturers to provide a plan of action with tasks and responsibilities that will see them go from strength to strength. MAS has for many years worked with manufacturers to ensure that an energy analysis has been carried out to identify the exact percentage of energy consumed by their processes as well as identifying possible energy reductions.
MAS practitioners have also assisted companies who are prepared to sign a Climate Change Agreement (CCA) with DEFRA which can reduce their Climate Change Levy (CCL) by up to 80% in return for meeting energy reduction targets. The types of companies eligible for such agreements has widened significantly since 2005. MAS have also been able to offer assistance to ensure that energy reduction targets are met.
