Developing a Medium to Long Term Manufacturing Strategy

‘The work that MAS has done has helped us hugely and the biggest win for me is that they set realistic targets that we feel we can meet, with just the right amount of encouragement.’

In order to survive in the sometimes unpredictable world of manufacturing companies need a strategy to succeed.    The Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) can help manufacturers to achieve this with medium and long term planning.

Companies may need to increase production to take into account increasing demands and need to produce a strategy to support the mechanisation of the manufacturing process.   MAS will work with companies to help them grow and develop their strategy by focusing on company’s main assets, and are realistic enough to know that in some cases the company would not grow successfully with some major structural overhaul.

As part of the strategy review MAS practitioners will assist with the establishment of financial controls, set up systems and structures to create greater profitability and provide commercial expertise.   They will look at the requirement for operational and commercial mentoring which will give the business a focus, help improve its cash flow, and assist with increased profitability.

MAS practitioners can help manufacturers achieve a clear strategy and mission for the future rather than simply reacting to current trends in the market.   They recognised that operational changes could significantly improve working practices and help companies to drive their ambition forward.  By doing this manufacturers can achieve corporate goals and determine a clear policy deployment process helping to align departmental performance measures to the overall strategy.   MAS practitioners are aware that a culture of involvement from all areas of the business is key to the success of any strategy.   They are also aware that as a result of maintaining a manufacturing strategy a company’s management team can become more cohesive and focused and staff morale across the business greatly improved.

MAS practitioners have seen that where companies are determined to sustain a long term vision and ensure that the new culture really takes hold they have found that the benefit of having a friend, mentor and therapist to hand in the form of MAS is invaluable in supporting their growth strategy.
