Keith Burton - MAS Best Practice Trainer
Keith designs, creates and delivers effective and relevant material for the MAS Productivity and Lean training workshops. The one day workshops currently comprises of Lean Awareness, Improving Layouts and 5S, Quality, Cost and Delivery (turning information into intelligence) and Process Mapping (Flow Process and Value Stream). These Best Practice Workshops are delivered at venues throughout the East Midlands and on site if required (dependent on number of delegates). Keith also coordinates the Best Practice Programme which includes one day workshops on Vision and Strategy (unlocking your potential), Successful Sales Techniques and a two day residential course on Leading Change within an Organisation.
Prior to joining MAS, Keith was an Operations Director/General Manager with over 20 years extensive factory/general management experience, including 6 years Board-Level experience. He started his career with the Boots Company and worked in a wide variety of roles.
At Thorntons PLC, Keith was manufacturing manager before becoming Site Manager of the Flixborough site; achieving 20% efficiency improvements within 2 years.
At Sundora Foods (an SME with turnover £20m) he was Operations Director with a wide range of responsibility (production, engineering, warehouse/logistics, technical/quality assurance, hygiene, human resources and health & safety.) He was the key role in planning a £1.8m design, construction and refurbishment factory programme which was completed within schedule and budget. During this period he played a central role in a £220k project developing a patented food process for retail and a branded cereal manufacturing which involved visits to Australia for process development. In addition, he successfully managed a dramatic period of growth packing 34 million units per year (400 SKU’s).
Keith joined Pera in 2007 delivering training on the Business Improvement Programme then becoming Skills Manager for Midlands & North before moving into his present role with MAS.
Keith holds a Phd in Chemisty (Salford), and has a Fellowship of Manufacturing Management (Cranfield).
